The Eid-e-Milad holiday in mumbai has been postponed by the maharashtra government from september 16 to september 18. On Friday, an official notification was released announcing the order. To prevent clashes with Ganpati immersion celebrations, this decision was made in response to pleas from Muslim MLAs and organizations who intended to organize Eid-e-Milad processions on september 18.

According to the announcement, "Monday, september 16, 2024, is designated as the Eid-e-Milad holiday among the 24 public holidays announced by the State Government." Muslim people commemorate Eid-e-Milad, a religious holiday, extensively and on a massive scale. This time, a procession program is planned. The Muslim community has chosen to hold the procession program on Wednesday, september 18, 2024, to preserve social harmony and peace between the two groups, as Tuesday, september 17, 2024, falls on the Hindu festival of Anant Chaturdashi. As a result, Wednesday, september 18, 2024, rather than Monday, september 16, 2024, is designated as the official holiday for Eid-e-Milad."

The statement also stated that district collectors outside of mumbai City and mumbai Suburbs would determine whether to keep the holiday on september 16 or move it to september 18, contingent on preparations for local procession.

To "maintain peace and social harmony" between the two groups during these overlapping holidays, the modification was made under the announcement.

Prophet Muhammad was born on Eid-ul-Milad. Processions involving Muslims from all around the world are held during the festival.
