PM Modi Turns 74 Today: A review of His Birthday Celebrations Over the Years

Prime minister narendra Modi is celebrating his 74th birthday on tuesday, september 17, adding another year to his extensive career in public service.

Though his birthday is generally treated like any other working day, it marks the beginning of 'Seva Parv,' a two-week festival organized annually by the bjp to highlight his dedication to public welfare and humanitarian service. Born narendra Damodardas Modi on september 17, 1950, in the modest town of Mehsana, Gujarat, he served as the state's chief minister for three terms (2001-14) and is currently in his third term as Prime Minister.


As usual, the bjp is launching the ‘Seva Pakhwara’ or ‘Seva Parv’ on tuesday to honor PM Modi's birthday.

This initiative will include blood donation drives and cleanliness campaigns across the nation. party members and volunteers will conduct cleanliness activities at hospitals, schools, and other public areas. Notably, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a key program of the Modi administration, recently received recognition from the journal ‘Nature,’ which credited it with helping prevent 60,000-70,000 infant deaths.


This year’s ‘Seva Parv’ will be central to the BJP’s festivities, with two notable events likely to draw significant attention. At Rajasthan’s Ajmer Sharif Dargah, 4,000 kg of vegetarian langar will be distributed to mark PM Modi’s birthday. In Surat, Gujarat, businesses are offering discounts ranging from 10 to 100 percent on september 17, including on services such as hotels, markets, and transport.


Here is a look at how PM Modi has celebrated his birthdays in recent years:

  • 2023: PM Modi’s birthday was marked by the launch of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, aimed at empowering artisans through skill development. He also inaugurated the india International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) and the extension of the delhi Airport Express line. In his lok sabha constituency, supporters celebrated with a 73-kg laddoo cake and organized an ‘Akhand Ramayan Path’ at a Hanuman temple.

  • 2022: On september 17, 2022, PM Modi celebrated by reintroducing cheetahs to India. Eight cheetahs from namibia were released into Kuno National Park in madhya pradesh as part of the Cheetah Reintroduction Project. Modi personally photographed the cheetahs.

  • 2021: This year’s birthday was notable for the record-setting administration of 2.26 crore Covid vaccinations in a single day, as part of a special drive to accelerate the fight against the pandemic.

  • 2020: Amid the pandemic, there were no large-scale birthday celebrations. Instead, the party organized ‘Sewa Saptah’ with camps and help desks, distributing rations to those in need and setting up blood donation camps.

  • 2019: PM Modi celebrated by participating in the ‘Namami Narmada’ festival in Kevadiya, Gujarat, marking the filling of the Narmada dam to its full capacity of 138.88 meters. He also addressed a large crowd near the Statue of Unity.
