A renowned singer Usha Uthup engaged in a candid conversation with Chief Justice of india (CJI) Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud. According to journalist Chandra R. srikanth, Uthup did not hold back with her questions, addressing both the Chief Justice's whereabouts and the high-profile kolkata rape case.

Uthup’s inquiries were direct: “What are you doing at an event? Why aren’t you in court? When are you announcing your decision on the kolkata case? The entire world is watching,” she reportedly asked. srikanth noted that despite the pointed questions, CJI Chandrachud responded with a good-natured attitude and engaged with Uthup in the conversation.

Background on the kolkata Rape Case

The kolkata Rape Case, which has drawn national attention, involves the rape and murder of a doctor at the RG Kar Medical college and Hospital on august 9. The case has led to significant public outcry and legal scrutiny. As of now, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including the officer in charge of the Tala police Station, Abhijit Mondal, and the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, who faces charges related to financial irregularities at the hospital.

The supreme court, under a Bench led by CJI Chandrachud, is overseeing the case. On september 2, the court resumed hearings in its suo motu case to ensure justice is served.
