Girl Selling Flowers Rescues Four Youths from Drowning During Ganesh Visarjan in Agra

In a remarkable act of bravery, an 18-year-old girl named mohini Goswami, who sells flowers and puja items in Bateshwar, Agra, saved four youths from drowning in the turbulent yamuna River during the Ganesh visarjan ceremony. The incident occurred on tuesday evening when the boys from firozabad entered deep waters to immerse a Ganesh idol.

Witnesses alerted the crowd when they saw the boys struggling, prompting Mohini, a 10th-grade student at government Girls Inter College, to leap into the river. Her strong swimming skills enabled her to rescue all four youths and bring them safely to shore.

Local residents and officials praised mohini for her courageous actions. ajay Bhadauria, the manager of a nearby ancient shiva temple, and chief priest Rakesh Vajpayee have recommended her for a reward from the administration.

Mohini's mother, Anita, expressed immense pride in her daughter's heroism. Having lost her husband a decade ago, she and mohini manage their household by selling flowers and puja items at the ghat. Mohini, an only child, aspires to join the police force after completing her studies. “They were going to die; I couldn’t let this happen in front of me,” she said.

Anita reflected on Mohini's lifelong passion for swimming, saying, “Despite my attempts to discourage her, she always found time for it. Little did I know she would one day save four lives. I am so proud of her.”
