Triptii Dimri, well-known for her amazing performances in movies like Qala and Bulbbul, was lately the target of harsh moral policing on several social networking sites, including X. Some people attempted to discredit her by stating that a good gentleman would never marry a lady like her. This follows her previous appearances in contentious parts in movies like Animal and Bad Newz. Dimri has come out to defend her work, arguing that films should depict the complexity of real life and that audiences should have the freedom to pick what they want to watch and don't watch.

The main issue that remains after all of this is, however, why she had to justify her work. Male performers frequently play roles that are just as contentious, if not more so, and nobody ever gives their characters a second thought. However, the moment an actress does this, the internet erupts in trolling and character assassination. The male performers are frequently complimented for playing contentious parts rather than being chastised for them! The "sigma" characters in films like Animal and kabir singh cause them to become overly popular very quickly.

This issue is not exclusive to the motion picture business. As women advance in their jobs, they practically always have to deal with criticism of one kind or another and inquiries about their personal lives. This exposes a fundamental weakness in society itself—that is, it takes pleasure in classifying things as "inappropriate" according to its own skewed viewpoint!
