Lost 6 crores in pursuit of profit from online trading app…
A case of cyber fraud worth crores has come to light in Delhi. A person living in Hauz Khas lost Rs 6 crore. Cyber fraudsters duped a doctor from Dwarka of Rs 82 lakh. The victims received a message from an unknown number on their phone. The fraudsters lured huge profits on investment in the stock market through online trading apps. They described themselves as stock market experts. After winning the trust, the victims were asked to download the application.
The complainant said that the application looked like a real stock trading platform. After downloading the application, personal information was shared. Initially invested Rs 5,000 and then Rs 20,000. On getting the profit, the victims were convinced that the application was an established trading platform. The victim received a whatsapp message. The message stated that the application for the new IPO has been successful. Investing in IPO can give up to 140 percent profit.
Two people including a doctor became victims of cyber fraudsters
The cyber fraudsters convinced him to transfer Rs 50 lakh. The complainant reviewed the profit on the fake application. He saw that it had exceeded Rs 4 crore. But he was never allowed to withdraw the profit amount. So he realized the fraud. He lodged a complaint with the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit of delhi Police. The doctor of Dwarka also fell into the trap of cyber fraudsters. They introduced themselves as financial advisors to the doctor.
Lured by profits from online trading app
The complainant told that he came in contact with the alleged financial advisor through social media posts. It was claimed that it is a reputed firm of USA. Searched about the firm on the internet. After getting the 'name of the firm' on the official site, it seemed that the firm is real and legitimate. So he joined the whatsapp group. After joining the group, information and suggestions about online share trading started coming from different mobile numbers. The complainant said that initially he invested a small amount. Getting good profits on the investment boosted his morale. The doctor said that later the members of the firm advised him to invest a large amount. On the suggestion, he borrowed Rs 50 lakh and invested it. The complainant said that when he tried to withdraw the entire invested amount, he did not get any response from the firm's managers. Despite repeated attempts and requests, he did not get any response. Suspecting fraud, he lodged a complaint with the delhi Police.
