PM Modi Advocates for india as a 'Global Tech Hub'

Prime minister Narendra Modi attended a roundtable discussion on sunday with CEOs from major U.S. companies, highlighting India's growth potential and pledging to establish the country as a center for emerging technologies, including semiconductors. This meeting occurred at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel during Modi’s three-day visit to the U.S. and centered on crucial areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, life sciences, IT and communications, and semiconductor technologies.

The CEOs engaged in discussions about the "evolving global technology landscape" and its implications for human well-being, including advancements in india, as noted by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). They examined how technology could drive innovations capable of transforming the global economy.

'Strong Optimism for India'

Modi described the roundtable as productive, stating, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing technology, innovation, and more. I’m pleased to see immense optimism towards India.”

Global technology Landscape

The CEOs participated in an in-depth conversation with the prime minister about global technological developments and how these advancements benefit people worldwide, including in India. They discussed leveraging technology for innovations that could revolutionize the global economy and enhance human development. Modi praised the MIT school of Engineering and its Dean for bringing together technology leaders and emphasized that collaboration initiatives like the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) are vital to the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. He reaffirmed his government's dedication to positioning india as the world's third-largest economy and encouraged companies to tap into India's growth narrative for collaboration and innovation.

Modi highlighted the ongoing economic transformation in india, especially in sectors like electronics, IT manufacturing, semiconductors, and green technology. He expressed his government’s commitment to making india a global semiconductor manufacturing hub and discussed the BIO E3 policy aimed at establishing india as a biotech powerhouse. Regarding artificial intelligence, he mentioned India's "AI for All" approach, which focuses on ethical and responsible usage.

The MEA reported that the CEOs showed strong interest in investing and collaborating with india, acknowledging the country's rise as a global technology hub driven by innovation-friendly policies and market opportunities. They recognized the potential for synergistic investments in startups to develop new technologies.
