While still a college student, malavika mohanan made her acting debut in the 2013 malayalam film Pattam Pole. The actress remembered, "I did my first malayalam film while I was still in college," in an exclusive interview with DNA. But after that, I didn't go to work right away. I completed one film before taking a very lengthy hiatus from employment.
 
The actress ultimately decided to complete her undergraduate education before looking into other career paths. "I was pursuing other interests. My time at college is over. I was still figuring out what I was interested in and had a knack for, so I decided I'd go into another area of filmmaking," malavika said.

Among other things, the actress developed an interest in photography and decided to explore whether she might pursue a photography career. "I helped an advertising filmmaker for a while," she said. After the entire adventure, I returned. Therefore, it doesn't seem like ten years because, at least not in my mind. I lived a whole different existence in between. Despite having learned a lot, the actress claimed that the era was chaotic. It took me some time to identify my goals and desires for myself. If I may phrase it that way, I went through a phase of existential turmoil," she continued.
 
With the 2019 tamil film petta, malavika made her full-time acting comeback following a few minor parts in movies. "After I began working in tamil cinema with petta with Rajini sir and then master with Vijay sir, it felt like I got into films," she said. petta and master, which starred Thalapathy Vijay and Rajinikanth, respectively, were box office successes that brought in more than Rs 200 crore. The actress will now star alongside siddhant chaturvedi in Yudhra, her bollywood debut. Alongside Prabhas, she has also signed up for her debut telugu movie, raja Saab.
