In a press conference in chennai last night, tarak mentioned that Jr. NTR's planned movie starring Vetrimaaran has been in the news for a while. Vetri was described by him as his "favorite director." Even if ntr may have a preference for Vetrimaaran as a director, a true partnership with the movie maker may not be totally possible.

Vetrimaaran has a lot going for him in tamil cinema and is undoubtedly one of the talented directors of this age. However, the movies he has been producing are solely targeted at the tamil audience. They mostly stem from persecution that solely affects tamil people. Vetri is also adored by a tiny portion of the telugu population, but not to the extent that a popular figure like ntr would be willing to take a chance. Vetri is also not used to the commercial packaging that NTR's large fan base demands from his movies.

Also, since Vetri's films haven't been successful outside of tamil Nadu, his chances of becoming a pan-Indian star are quite slim. ntr may have a creative desire to collaborate with Vetri, but at this moment, the project with Vetri is neither financially or professionally viable for him in terms of box office markets and trade aspects.
