Chandrababu Naidu's party Urges jagan Mohan to Sign 'Faith Declaration' Ahead of tirupati Visit

In the wake of a major controversy surrounding prasad laddoos at the tirupati temple, former andhra pradesh Chief minister YS jagan mohan reddy is scheduled to visit the Lord venkateswara swamy temple at tirumala Hills on september 28 to offer prayers. However, Chandrababu Naidu’s telugu desam party (TDP) spokesperson, prem Kumar Jain, has claimed that reddy will need to perform a forgiveness ritual and sign a declaration affirming his faith in Lord balaji, given his Christian beliefs.

Reddy's visit coincides with a statewide call from his party, YSRCP, to atone for what they refer to as the "sin" committed by Naidu, who has accused Reddy's government of using substandard ingredients and animal fat in making the temple's prasad laddoos. Jain stated, “Jagan mohan reddy will be coming to tirumala temple on september 28 to perform a forgiveness ritual. However, the offense of using fish oil and hurting devotees' sentiments cannot be overlooked.”

Another tdp spokesperson, Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, insisted that reddy would not be permitted to enter the temple unless he signs a faith declaration. “We understand you are a Christian, which is not an issue for us. However, anyone from another religion wishing to have a darshan of Lord balaji must sign a declaration of faith,” he said.

Ram further emphasized that reddy has committed an "unforgivable sin" and suggested that no amount of penance would absolve him. “Lord balaji will not forgive him even if he climbs the seven hills on his knees,” he declared, referring to evidence that tdp claims shows deliberate wrongdoing by Reddy’s party members. He noted that reddy has previously visited the temple without signing the declaration.

In alignment with the tdp, the bharatiya janata party (BJP) also echoed the demand for reddy to sign the declaration. andhra pradesh bjp chief D purandeswari highlighted that it has been standard practice for decades, stating, “As per G.O. MS NO-311 of ap Revenue Endowments–1, Rule no 16, non-Hindus must declare their faith before darshan.”

Purandeswari insisted that reddy should make the declaration at the Garuda statue at Alipiri before beginning his ascent to Tirumala.

Reddy's Call for Statewide temple Rituals
In response, reddy has called on the people of andhra pradesh to participate in temple rituals on september 28 to atone for Naidu's alleged "sin." In a post on X, he stated, “YSRCP is calling for statewide rituals in temples to undo this sin committed by Chandrababu.”

Background of the tirupati Laddoo Controversy
This appeal follows Naidu's accusations that the previous YSRCP government used substandard ingredients and animal fat in making the temple's laddoos. Naidu claimed that animal fat was mixed with ghee for the prasad, alleging a political motive behind the accusations. He contended, “Though animal fat adulteration did not occur, he intentionally lied about it and falsely propagated that devotees consumed it.” The allegations have ignited widespread controversy across the nation.
