Modern road infrastructure has grown significantly in india in recent years. However, there have been a good number of disputes and criticisms around it. The country now has a notably higher number of toll gates as a result of the nda government, led by nitin gadkari, pushing for highway growth. This is because, in order to construct the infrastructure, the government mostly depends on loans from private companies and public-private partnerships. Due to this, several toll gates have been established in an effort to raise revenue and pay back the debts that were obtained from private entities in order to construct the roads.

Although the original goal of this project was to lessen the direct rise in cost on taxpayers, it appears that the public is becoming more and more critical of the toll gates. The toll system has certain basic issues, which is why many people see it as a burdensome double system rather than a relief. Even after the whole money needed for the debt recovery has been collected, the toll gates stay open. The public now believes that they are compelled to pay interest in addition to the original amount as a result of this.

In addition, at peak hours, there is traffic bottlenecks and congestion at the toll gates. While the public is incensed at the toll system's lack of accountability and transparency, which the Union government must address as soon as possible, modern infrastructure is unquestionably vital for the advancement of any country.
