The billionaire who founded SpaceX, tesla, and X, Elon Musk, has openly backed donald trump in the next US presidential contest. This is in stark contrast to the political views of many of his staff members, who are in favor of Vice President Kamala harris, Trump's opponent.

OpenSecrets, a website that monitors political contributions, shows that workers at Musk's businesses have given more to Kamala harris than to Donald Trump. tesla employees have donated $24,840 to trump and $42,824 to Kamala Harris. Employees of SpaceX gave $7,652 to trump and $34,526 to Kamala Harris. $13,213 has been donated to Kamala harris at X, whereas less than $500 has been given to Trump.

Even while harris has received bigger donations, these sums still pale in comparison to the overall monies raised for the campaign. After endorsing Joe Biden in 2020, Musk has now sided with trump and attacked leftist ideals. Musk would head a committee on government efficiency, trump has pledged if he wins. Since corporations are not allowed to actively contribute to federal elections, the stated donations are from employees, business owners, and their families. This disparity draws attention to the political divisions among Musk's businesses.
