The horrifying murder of Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru was the result of a marriage proposal, a violent argument, several extramarital encounters, and blind wrath. Due to the striking parallels between the killings of Shraddha Walkar and Mahalakshmi, the police believe that Mukti Ranjan Roy, the key accused, may have been inspired by the Walkar case by seeing social media films that recreated the delhi crime.
 
According to the india Herald, Mukti Ranjan Roy, who fled from Bengaluru days after carrying out the horrific deed, allegedly used a sharp cleaver knife to chop Mahalakshmi's body into 59 pieces, which were then placed inside a refrigerator for 18 days.
 

BENGALURU CASE: MUKTI RANJAN SAT WITH MAHALAKSHMI’S BODY THE ENTIRE NIGHT

It is said that Mukti Ranjan Roy and Mahalakshmi dated for about six months, although their relationship was turbulent. According to local police sources, they frequently argued and got into violent altercations, and occasionally their conflicts spilled into the street outside her Vyalikaval home.
 
An official said that attempts had been made to resolve the issue peacefully after complaints of their altercations were made to the Malleshwaram police station.
 
It is stated that Mukti Ranjan Roy visited Mahalakshmi's home on the tragic night of september 3. They quarreled once more since she had been urging him to wed her.


Mahalakshmi had previously wed Hemanth, with whom she had a small daughter. september 2023 saw the couple's breakup as she was allegedly having an affair with a man named Ashraf. In his police statement, her spouse cited Ashraf as the cause of their breakup.
 
Knowing about the previous marriage, Mukti Ranjan Roy declined to marry her since he believed she had other relationships.
 

According to an officer directly involved in the investigation, "They would often argue on this issue," india Herald was told. Mahalakshmi's phone once included images of other guys, which offended Mukti Ranjan Roy. The officer stated that he had spoken with his younger brother, Smriti Ranjan Roy, who lived in Bengaluru, about her violent behavior and the pictures on her cell phone.
 
India Herald was informed by Additional Commissioner (West), sathish Kumar, that Mukti Ranjan's younger brother had admitted to the police that Mukti had gotten in touch with him following the murder, and that his lengthy statement was being recorded.

Mahalakshmi was said to be "hot-tempered" by the police, and the local police received reports of physical violence between the two individuals. Her divorced spouse Hemanth also filed a similar charge at the Nelamangala police station. Investigators investigating on the case stated that he had reported that she had bit him during an altercation and demanded money.
 

The inquiry further showed that the murder occurred between september 3 and september 4. Following a heated dispute on that fatal night, Mukti Ranjan Roy supposedly lost his anger. An enraged Mukti Ranjan is said to have spent the entire night sitting with Mahalakshmi's dead body, discussing how to dispose of it after attacking her and killing her. The authorities believe that he watched films on proper body disposal at this time.
 

MUKTI RANJAN BOUGHT A KNIFE TO CUT MAHALAKSHMI’s BODY

CCTV evidence shows that Mukti Ranjan Roy went to a utensil shop in Malleshwaram the following morning, on september 4, around 11 a.m., and purchased a cleaver knife.
 
"We possess video evidence of the defendants entering the store, and additional proof showed that the defendants discarded an object, which turned out to be the knife's sheath," a law enforcement official stated.


Following his horrific act, Mukti Ranjan turned off his phone and fled into hiding. When Smriti Ranjan, his younger brother, tried to call him from Hebbagodi, which is close to Electronic City, she discovered that his phone was off. When Mukti Ranjan Roy turned on his phone again after a few days, Smriti Ranjan questioned him about the reason behind his lack of communication.
 
It was at this point when Mukti Ranjan Roy admitted to his brother that he had killed someone. He requested that he leave his lodging room right away. He said that the manner Mahalakshmi had handled him had really offended him. An investigating officer stated, "He also complained to him about their frequent arguments and how her violent behavior had irritated him, which ultimately resulted in her murder."
 

Mukti Ranjan gave his brother the order to leave the region and threatened to have him arrested as well. After confessing to the murder, Mukti Ranjan even borrowed money from Smriti Ranjan, the younger brother, telling him he was going to their homeland in odisha to get away from the police. Smriti Ranjan made this confession to the police.
 
Mukti Ranjan's phone was tracked down by the police in West Bengal. It was, however, turned off. Following more technological examination, it was discovered that Mukti Ranjan's number was active in Odisha. Consequently, three squads from the Bengaluru police were sent to locate and capture him.
 

"In this case, technological data, scientific analysis, and CCTV photographs assisted us in locating the main suspect. We discovered that Mukti Ranjan had admitted to killing before him after speaking with his brother, who lives in Bengaluru. In addition, Mukti Ranjan's suicide note, which was discovered next to his body, contained a confession to killing Mahalakshmi. Deputy Commissioner of police (Central) Shekhar HT said, "We will continue our investigation after receiving more details from our teams and our counterparts in Odisha."
 

BENGALURU murder CASE: MUKTI RANJAN’s SUICIDE

In Bhadrak, odisha, close to his hometown, Mukti Ranjan Roy was discovered hanging from a tree on september 25. It has been discovered that he promised to return the two-wheeler to his friend in Balasore when he asked for assistance with it.
 
Mukti Ranjan admitted killing Mahalakshmi in a handwritten message he left before killing himself.
