For holders of Green Cards, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services (USCIS) has released an important update. Finally, indian immigrants may breathe a sigh of relief because their Green Card's validity has been extended to a maximum of 36 months. This has occurred as a result of the rising demand for work and study-based visas, for which a sizable portion of indians must wait for extended periods of time—up to years.

Working professionals may rest easy knowing that their status will be maintained while they wait for their Card renewal thanks to the extended validity. Traveling indians, who frequently return home for holidays and other events, will also find this easier. A extended validity period allays concerns about being lost when they return to the United States.

While the extension of the Geen Card is a good thing, indian immigrants continue to face significant issues with application processing times. Only 3% of the 34.7 million Green Card applicants are expected to be approved this year, according to a recent study, which means that more than a million indian applications may be turned down. Nevertheless, this news gives indians optimism in a turbulent time when the West is gradually closing its borders to immigration.
