After the paris Olympics debacle, former indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat stated she would not talk to prime minister Narendra Modi over the phone. As a congress candidate running for the Julana seat in the haryana assembly elections, Vinesh stated that she did not want her feelings and labors to be used for political advantage. She said she was informed that two persons would be there to videotape her meeting with PM Modi for use on social media.

"The PM had called, but I declined to answer. I was not the recipient of the call directly, but indian officials who were there told me that PM Modi wanted to speak. I was prepared. They did, however, impose conditions: two individuals from their side would film the talk for social media, and no one from my team would be there. Vinesh told the Lallantop, "I didn't want my feelings and hard work to be ridiculed on social media.

Why Vinesh Phogat didn't talk to PM Modi?
She went on to say that she would have valued an honest discussion with the prime minister that was publicized without any restrictions. Notably, PM Modi congratulated all of the medal-winning athletes in paris for their efforts over the phone.

"I would have been appreciative if he hadn't recorded the call and actually cared about athletics. Perhaps he is aware that Vinesh will inquire about the last two years if I chat with her. Perhaps for this reason, I was told not to bring a phone with me since they could edit the video on their end while I wouldn't edit. I'll upload the original footage. Thus, they refuted," she said.
