Filmmakers Zoya Akhtar, Vetri Maaran, Pa Ranjith, Mahesh Narayanan, karan johar, and Pa Ranjith discussed the difficulties facing indian filmmaking, especially Bollywood. Together, they talked about how bollywood was doing slowly and drearyly despite the recent box office triumph of a few movies. 

Karan Johar emphasized that the primary cause of this sluggish advancement was the actors' unwillingness to attempt new things and venture outside of their comfort zones, especially the major stars. According to him, performers should accept the director's direction and be far more inventive and adventurous in their parts rather than trying to drive the movie in the direction of their own story.

The performers, Rajinikanth and mammootty in particular, who, in spite of their own enormous fame, are not afraid to try new things and venture beyond of their comfort zones, were also commended by the directors. mammootty received special recognition for his performance in Jeo Baby's 2023 film "Kaathal - The Core" as a middle-aged gay guy. 

With his performance in Kaathal, mammootty not only questioned social mores and conventions but also brought attention to the struggles of a group that is still marginalized in contemporary indian culture. These kinds of jobs consistently test the limits of traditional filmmaking and are frequently warmly welcomed by the audience.
