The republican party has been criticizing Douglas Emhoff, the husband of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala harris and U.S. vice president, for allegedly having an affair with his first wife. After Kamala harris formally accepted the Democratic Party's candidacy for president, Doug Emhoff gave a moving address at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), referring to Kamala as a "Joyful Warrior."

He said in a recent interview that his basic ideals have always included supporting women. Doug reiterated that equality for all has always been a part of the "American Values" and mentioned that his father instilled in him his fundamental beliefs and ideas toward women. He also mentioned in the interview that he went on a blind date with Kamala harris and left her a voicemail at eight thirty in the morning. However, the "Second Gentleman" has not been having a good time because he has been the target of many attacks. Doug Emhoff has been dubbed the "wife guy" by the right for his remarks.

Republicans have not been silent about Emhoff, often reminding the public that he had an affair with his daughter's nanny when he was married to Kerstin Emhoff. There have also been several theories suggesting that Douglas coerced the nanny into having an abortion. people have come to embrace Doug Emhoff's role as a contemporary and encouraging spouse, defying conventional ideas of masculinity, in spite of these assertions and critiques.
