When telangana minister Konda surekha asserted last week that samantha Ruth Prabhu and naga Chaitanya's divorce was the result of a political plot, it caused quite a stir. Following criticism from the film industry, which included samantha and Chaitanya, surekha recanted her remarks. But naga chaitanya was also criticized by a lot of fans for failing to specifically mention samantha in his reply.

Konda surekha charged ktr on october 1st of "blackmailing" samantha into divorcing Chaitanya. samantha answered right away, requesting that surekha keep her out of politics. Fans felt that Chaitanya's response, which she issued the next day, was too ambiguous. Fans felt that it was insulting of him to refer to samantha as his "earlier spouse" without even using her name.
