When Pa Ranjith's film Thangalaan, which starred vikram in the title role and was released in theaters on august 15, it received conflicting reviews from critics and viewers. Prior to its debut, there were high hopes for this film, but it fell short of the public's expectations and was just mediocre. Every audience praised Chiyaan Vikram's performance in the film, despite the varied reviews the movie received.

The crew first offered Netflix an outrageous sum for its over-the-top distribution, but after the film received negative reviews following its premiere, there were rumors that Netflix had pulled out. Another concern has been brought up about the Thangalaan OTT release; according to reports, a person by the name of Porkodi has filed a complaint against Thangalaan to prevent the movie's distribution on the OTT.

In light of the circumstances, it is stated that this film presents buddhism favorably while mocking Vainavam buddhism negatively. After its OTT publication, this may spark a conflict between two religions. The Netflix agreement was previously against Thangalaan on OTT, and it appears that OTT viewers would have to wait a little while longer to see the Thangalaan movie on OTT.
