Sadhguru was honored with the Global indian Award 2024 by the canada India Foundation.
The canada India Foundation presented spiritual leader Sadhguru with the CIF Global indian Award in recognition of his "unparalleled contributions towards creating a conscious planet" and his pioneering work in addressing environmental issues.
The celebration, which takes place on Sunday, october 20, honors people of indian descent who have had a significant effect on the world.
Ritesh Malik, Chair of the canada India Foundation, stated, "In Sadhguru, we have a perfect union of understanding the current challenges and finding solutions to the most pressing issues, guided by the wisdom traditions of the ancient indian spiritual and knowledge systems as well as straight-forward common sense which unfortunately is not so common anymore."
"Sadhguru provides practical solutions for the full personal development of the individual as well as long-term solutions to the planet-wide challenges like soil degradation, climate change, and food quality," Malik stated.
According to Ritesh Malik, canada can gain a lot from thought leaders like Sadhguru, whose teachings complement the country's emphasis on diversity, sustainability, and individual well-being.
"His emphasis on yoga, meditation, and mindfulness aligns perfectly with Canada’s public health priorities, especially in the great challenge to the system offered by mental illness," he said.
After accepting the award, Sadhguru thanked the canada India Foundation and donated the CAD 50,000 prize money to Cauvery Calling, an Isha Foundation environmental project that aims to revitalize the River Cauvery, which runs through the states of tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
