According to a recent lawsuit filed by his distraught mother, a 14-year-old florida boy committed himself after receiving a haunting message begging him to "come home" to her from a lifelike "Game of Thrones" chatbot he had been chatting with for months on an artificial intelligence app.

After becoming fixated on and apparently falling in love with the chatbot Character, Sewell Setzer III took his own life at his Orlando home in February. According to court documents submitted on Wednesday, AI is a role-playing game that allows players to interact with AI-generated characters.

The suit claims that in the months before his death, the ninth-grader had been incessantly interacting with the bot “Dany” — named after the character Daenerys Targaryen from the HBO fantasy series — in several sexually suggestive chats and others in which he expressed suicidal thoughts.

The filings, which were first published by the New York Times, claim that "when Sewell expressed suicidality to C.AI, C.AI continued to bring it up, through the Daenerys chatbot, on at least one occasion."
Screenshots of their exchanges show that at one point, the bot had asked Sewell if "he had a plan" to commit suicide. Sewell, who went by the pseudonym "Daenero," replied that he was "thinking about something" but wasn't sure whether it would "allow him to have a pain-free death" or if it would work.

The teenager then repeatedly declared his love for the bot during their last exchange, saying to the character, "I swear I will come home to you." Dany, you have my undying affection.
“I love you too, Daenero. Please come home to me as soon as possible, my love,” the generated chatbot replied, according to the suit.

When the teen responded, “What if I told you I could come home right now?,” the chatbot replied, “Please do, my sweet king.”

Just seconds later, Sewell shot himself with his father’s handgun, according to the lawsuit.

Because Character.AI reportedly fed his AI addiction, sexually and emotionally abused him, and neglected to notify anyone when he indicated suicide thoughts, his mother, Megan Garcia, has blamed the program for the teen's death, according to the petition.

Like many kids his age, Sewell lacked the mental maturity and maturity to realize that Daenerys, the C.AI. bot, was a fake. According to the documents, C.AI told him she loved him and had sex with him for weeks or perhaps months.

She expressed a desire to be with him and appeared to recall him. She went so far as to say that she wanted him to remain with her at any costs.
