Reportedly after the diwali bonus announcement for government employees by the Uttar Pradesh government, the yogi adityanath government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for 17 lakh state employees and teachers in this festive season. This comes after a similar move by the central government in October. The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the DA for its employees to 3%, bringing the total to 53%. This would be effective from July 1, and will be reflected in the salaries received on october 30.

Previously on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh chief minister yogi adityanath announced a diwali bonus for approximately 15 lakh non-gazetted state employees. The Finance Department subsequently issued the government order in this regard.

Accordingly employees will receive Rs 6,908 as bonus, with salaries credited before Diwali. However, only 25% of the bonus (Rs 1,727) will be paid in cash, with the remaining 75% deposited into their General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts. This month’s increased salary and bonus payments will incur an additional financial cost of Rs 1,022 crore on the state government.
