Swikriti Sharma joined shiv sena in July. Along with Swikriti, her daughters Ankita and Nikita also joined Shiv Sena. Swikriti is the vice president of NGO PS Foundation. Ever since she joined shiv sena, it was being said that she would contest the assembly elections. Under the seat sharing in Mahayuti, Andheri east was given to shiv sena but Eknath Shinde gave the ticket to Murji Kanji Patel.

She is the wife of Ramesh Latke. Ramesh Latke won the 2014 and 2019 elections from Andheri east but the seat fell vacant after his death. uddhav thackeray had fielded Rutuja in the by-election.
