An official shared information in this regard on tuesday (29 October). This ban will be in force from 31 october to 29 November. assembly elections are to be held in maharashtra on 20 November. At the same time, it is also the anniversary of the 26/11 mumbai terrorist attack.
According to a PTI report, an official said that the police on monday (28 October) issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) and it will be in force from 31 october to 29 November. police say that anyone can be targeted through a drone or any flying object, so the ban is necessary.
Why ban flying objects in Mumbai?
The city will witness campaigns and rallies of prominent leaders for the maharashtra assembly elections to be held on november 20 and the anniversary of the 26/11 mumbai terror attack. The order states that terrorists and anti-social elements can use drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft and paragliders to target VVIPs in their attacks, endanger the lives of people and destroy public property in the mumbai police Commissionerate area. In such a situation, some restrictions are necessary to prevent possible sabotage through flying objects.
According to the order, the official said that keeping this in mind, there will be no flying activities of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft and paragliders. However, it also states that permission will be given in the jurisdiction of mumbai police except for police aerial surveillance or specific permission of DCP (Operations).
