A silent epidemic in India...!? Students' lives are its target?

india has faced many problems. It has endured many ups and downs. Now it is one of the fastest developing countries. Aiming to join the top GDP countries. But, it is said that a silent epidemic has now become a great danger to the youth who are the future of India. Higher education institutions like IIT, ANITY, and IIM are now being heard that they are become pressure when it comes to India's future youth. More than 98 students committed suicide between 2019 and 2023 in such higher education institutions.

It is noteworthy that the highest number of 39 deaths occurred in IITs. It is said that most of these are registered in IIT Madras. Experts say that the reason for this is extreme stress. The situation is understandable as more than 2,00,000 students compete for 1,207 seats in the top 15 IITs every year. In the recent internal surveys conducted by the IIT student organizations, it is said that academic pressure is the main reason for the suicides of about 61 percent of the students in these institutes. In addition to this, it is said that lack of proper job placements also increases this pressure. The debate started that this trend is more evident in the data presented by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) that shook delhi on Diwali. While the number of students who committed suicide was 6,654 in 2013, the number increased to 13,044 in 2022. It is said that their number is high in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and tamil Nadu.
Also, this problem is not entirely limited to educational institutions. Family stress is said to play an important role in this crisis. One of the reasons for this is that most parents in indian families see their children as the bearers of their families' hopes, ambitions, and aspirations. In addition to these, economic factors are also said to play a vital role in this matter. Another reason for these decisions is said to be that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds are also carrying the additional burden of huge loans taken by their families to fund their education. In this regard, along with the educational institutions, the parents are also requested to stand up for the students. It is said that counseling should be given mainly from experts in educational institutions. Along with this, counseling from parents at home is also very important. Otherwise, it is said that there is a danger of ruining the lives of students in the form of suicides.
