Actress taapsee pannu has gained attention lately by drawing attention to the difficulties faced by women in Bollywood, including significant problems like salary inequality and casting prejudice. Shah Rukh Khan's "Dunki," in which Taapsee portrayed the female protagonist, was a hit, however not as successful as "Pathaan" or "Jawan." Despite the film's obvious popularity, the actress disclosed that she did not earn a sizable salary. A major turning point in Taapsee's career, Dunki is and may continue to be her highest-grossing movie.

In over 75% of the cases, Taapsee accused the male performers of influencing the casting of female protagonists to fit their own personal objectives. According to her, male performers choose which female leads to cast in order to avoid overshadowing them in the movie, unless the filmmaker has a cult following of their own.

She said that male leads frequently choose which corporate endorsements will include their female co-stars, demonstrating that this type of sexism goes far beyond casting. Although it originally irritated her, she claimed to have learned to accept it. Many social media users responded favorably to Taapsee's remarks, recognizing the stark wage gap in the indian film industry and applauding her for her roles in Shabaash Mithu, Thappad, and Pink. The actress hopes her remarks on this delicate subject will spark discussions about respect and equality for female performers.
