Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated US President-elect donald trump on his resounding win in the US elections through Twitter/X. To set the scene, a community note emphasized that PM Sharif accessed X using a VPN to congratulate Trump. “I look forward to working closely with the incoming administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-US partnership,” PM Sharif wrote in a post on Twitter.

Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan's Information Minister, declared earlier this year that social networking platform X will be banned due to national security concerns. Tarar asserted that the site was being used by Balochistani terrorists affiliated with the balochistan Liberation army (BLA) to disseminate their anti-national operations. However, the social media community criticized PM Sharif's remark on X without endorsing the ban. "If hypocrisy had a human face, it would be Shehbaz Sharif," one user said.
Another user, while tagging Elon Musk, wrote, "Mr. trump, this joker using VPN to congratulate you... Btw, Elon Musk plate form has been banned in pakistan !!!"

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokeswoman for Pakistan's Foreign Office, stated thursday that pakistan and the united states are "old friends and partners," but he emphasized that Islamabad's ties with china will not be affected by a second trump term.

In its report, news agency PTI cited Baloch as stating, "We look forward to further strengthening and broadening the Pakistan-US relationship in all fields. Our relations with the united states are decades old."

She said that Islamabad's connection with beijing is "all-weather, strategic, and a stabilizing force" in the nation's foreign policy when asked how Trump's second term as US president has affected Pakistan-China ties.
