The chennai police have heightened security measures for theaters screening the movie "Amaran", starring Sivakarthikeyan, after receiving intelligence that some Muslim organizations may protest. The film, based on Major Mukund Varadarajan's life, has been alleged to contain scenes defaming Kashmiri Muslims. The movie "Amaran" has been making headlines lately. It's a Tamil-language biographical action war film directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films international and sony Pictures Films India.

Following a tip-off, police protection was provided to 46 theaters across chennai, including Tiruvallikeni, Annanagar, and Koyambedu. Up to 10 policemen were deployed at each theater, with some venues conducting security checks on fans. Intensive monitoring and patrolling were also carried out in surrounding areas.

These security arrangements will remain in place until the situation stabilizes, according to police officials. "Amaran" was released in theaters on Diwali, honoring Major Varadarajan's service in the indian Army. There have been reports of some Muslim organizations protesting against the film, alleging that it contains scenes defaming Kashmiri Muslims. As a result, police security has been provided to theaters screening the movie in Chennai.

Despite the controversy, "Amaran" has been well-praised by critics, who have praised Sivakarthikeyan's music, script, director, and acting. At the box office, it has also performed well, becoming the third highest-grossing tamil movie of 2024.
