As per report a massive explosion rocked indian oil corporation limited (IOCL) refinery in the Koyali area of Gujarat’s vadodara on Monday. Plumes of black smoke emanated from the refinery and were visible for several kilometres away from the spot. No casualties have been reported so far. The workers in the refinery were evacuated after the fire.

Hence according to preliminary information as reported, explosion occurred in the storage tank of the refinery. Soon after the blast, a huge fire broke out in the refinery. Meanwhile, locals suggested that the fire may have been triggered by an explosion in one of the facility’s boilers. The local administration took prompt action to control the blaze and rushed 10 fire tenders to douse the fire. The explosion and subsequent massive blazes created chaos and panic among the nearby people and companies.


Moreover local mla dharmendra Sinh Vaghela told ANI, “The village sarpanch called me up to inform me of the incident… I tried to get information from the concerned authorities on the reason for the fire… I will go inside to assess the situation and talk to the officers. We have also called an urgent meeting with the Collector, Deputy Collector, Police, and ioc officers to ensure no such case happens again." Probe is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident. The area has been cordoned off by the fire brigade and the emergency agencies are on high alert.
