The direct effects of shifting food and lifestyle patterns on health are becoming more apparent. Girls between the ages of six and nine are having early-onset menstruation in several cases, which was uncommon in the past. In an interview with india Herald, prominent gynecologist Dr. Sadhna Kala of Delhi's Apollo Cradle Hospital voiced alarm over this trend.

Why Do Periods Start At An Early Age?
Dr. Kala clarified that hereditary reasons might occasionally be blamed for early menstruation. Future generations may be impacted, for instance, if a girl's mother, grandmother, or maternal grandmother started menstruation early. Environmental influences are also quite important.

Children today deal with a lot of academic stress from a young age. A lot of parents put pressure on their young children to do well in school. Reduced physical exercise for healthy development is another significant factor, as kids spend more time on computers and mobile devices.

Each of these elements has an impact on a child's health and may cause early menstruation. Dr. Kala also emphasized how early menstruation might be influenced by familial variables. For instance, a child's mental and physical health may be impacted if they observe parental disputes or divorce. Young children who experience physical abuse are also susceptible to early menstruation. Additionally, this tendency may be greatly influenced by shifting dietary patterns, such as a greater intake of processed foods.

Tips To Prevent Early Menstruation
Dr. Kala advised parents to minimize academic pressure and promote physical activity for their daughters from a young age to prevent excessive stress. Fruits, dairy products (milk, yogurt, and cheese), and a preference for home-cooked meals over takeout are essential components of a healthy diet. Because early menstruation can potentially impact height growth, it is important to support healthy physical development through activities like cycling and jogging.
