Reportedly the Chhatrapati shivaji Maharaj international airport in mumbai received a bomb threat from an unidentified caller on wednesday afternoon, who informed the security personnel about a passenger carrying explosives. According to sources, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) control room at Terminal 1 (domestic) received the bomb threat call on wednesday afternoon. The caller claimed that a man called Mohammad was traveling from mumbai to azerbaijan with explosives. Acting swiftly, the CISF team alerted the Sahar police Station, leading to an immediate deployment of officers to the airport for a detailed investigation.
Perhaps sources indicate that the caller did not specify flight details and abruptly ended the call around 3 PM. Authorities are now conducting a thorough probe and working to trace the caller. Security has been heightened at the airport as a precautionary measure, and the police are verifying passenger details to ensure safety. This fresh incident adds to the barrage of hoax bomb threats received by indian airlines in the last few weeks.
Previously a 35 year old man from Maharashtra’s Gondia, who was allegedly behind the spate of hoax bomb threats that triggered panic, caused flight delays, and led to increased security at airports and other establishments. The nagpur police Special Branch identified the suspect as Jagdish Uikey, who is not only an author of a book on terrorism but also holds an arrest record in a 2021 case, said officials. They added that he was identified after the hoax emails were traced back to him.
