Passengers travelling from canada face tighter security!

Strict security checks have now been implemented for passengers coming to india from Canada. Canada's Transport minister Anita anand announced the move and called it a "precautionary step". According to a CBC news report, air canada has informed passengers about this change. Passengers at Toronto Pearson international airport are now facing more stringent security checks than before. The airport administration warned passengers through social media that the boarding process may take longer. Passengers are urged by air canada to arrive at the airport four hours prior to the departure time.

Why did canada take this step?

This step has been taken at a time when an air india flight was landed in Equalite, canada in october due to a bomb threat. However, no explosive material was found during the search. Apart from this, Khalistani terrorist and founder of 'Sikhs for Justice' Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had recently threatened air india flights.

India and canada continue to have diplomatic tensions.

Following prime minister Justin Trudeau's accusation that indian services were involved in the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, tensions between india and canada have been high for the past few months. These accusations were deemed "baseless and motivated" by India.

The Royal Mounted police of canada has also accused indian agencies of committing crimes in canada, further deteriorating ties between the two nations. Both nations have expelled their senior diplomats as a result of this issue.
