Although there are numerous Telugus in the US, according to recent data, andhra pradesh and telangana accounted for 56% of all indian visas granted by the US in 2023. That demonstrates the telugu community's growing power in America. In 2023–2024, india surpassed china as the country that sent the most students to the US. 

The US Consulate General in hyderabad reported as much. With 56% of the total, telangana and ap are the two indian states that send the most students to the US. telangana accounts for 34% of this, while andhra pradesh accounts for 22%.

1.8 lakh of the 3.3 lakh students who were permitted to study in the US last year are from telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The US Consulate in hyderabad has increased its workforce and intends to triple it by early 2025 in order to manage the increasing volume of applications. At the moment, they handle 1,600 visas per day, with plans to eventually expand to 2500.
