Bangladesh HC rejects demand for ban on ISKCON...

The bangladesh high court has refused to accept a petition to ban the activities of the international Society of krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The court has asked the government to take immediate action to maintain law and order in the country and ensure the safety of religious minorities.

Tensions escalated in bangladesh after the arrest of Chinmoy krishna Das, and protests began in support of the Hindu community. He was arrested at Dhaka airport on charges of sedition. During this, violence broke out in Chittagong and Rangpur, after which the court rejected his bail plea on tuesday and sent him to jail. During the hearing in the court, it was reported that three cases have been registered and 33 persons have been arrested.

ISKCON approaches the High Court

The high court refused to pass a suo motu order as the government informed about taking necessary steps on the matter. During this, the court directed the government to ensure the safety of religious minorities and the safety of public property. The Attorney General directed the government to provide detailed information to the court regarding the activities and violence of ISKCON. He hoped that the government would be cautious in maintaining religious tolerance.

Statement of ISKCON spokesperson Charu Chandra Das

ISKCON spokesperson Charu Chandra Das said on the matter of Chinmay Das that he is not the spokesperson of ISKCON Bangladesh. His comments are personal opinion and do not represent the official position of ISKCON. At the same time, ISKCON is preparing to file a bail petition for Chinmay Das in the High Court. The petition demands not to ban ISKCON and to impose emergency to stop the violence in Chittagong and Rangpur.
