In Hyderabad, driving while intoxicated is increasingly commonplace. Concerns regarding people's safety as they go about their daily commutes are being raised by the steadily rising number of instances. This year, there have already been more than 50,000 drunk driving instances reported, and as the new year draws near, more are anticipated. According to the research, there are much more two-wheeler owners engaging in the act than there are four-wheeler owners. The fact that two-wheelers lack any kind of safety gear to avoid injury somehow makes the situation even more concerning.

More than 90 percent of the cases filed are against two-wheeler owners in total. Not only so, but the total amount of money collected from these infractions over the course of a year is significantly greater than the average amount of fines collected. This year, almost ₹10.69 crore in penalties were filed. rahul Hegde, the DCP of Traffic, raised awareness to the issue by disclosing that around 3,750 drivers were detained for the infraction, with up to 100 individuals being thrown in on a single day.
 
According to the regulations, the driver will be subject to jurisdiction if their blood alcohol content exceeds the 30 mg/100 ml limit. In addition to drunk driving, other serious infractions that resulted in numerous arrests included speeding and driving without a helmet. Given that there have been 215 recorded traffic accident deaths this year alone, the DCP expressed worry over these incidents.
