In 2025, Anurag Kashyap's picture Paanch, which was banned over 20 years ago due to its alleged violent nature, will be released in cinemas. Once a controversial film, many are now questioning if it is still required given that it is openly accessible on YouTube after all these years. Because it depicted crime too realistically, censors banned Paanch, which was based on the Joshi-Abhyankar murders, in 2001. Despite being banned, the movie became a cult favorite because to underground screenings and online leaks.

Since strong themes are quickly becoming a standard feature of streaming platforms, Paanch will probably be viewed as somewhat of a thing of the past. Calls for a theatrical re-release have also been lessened by online access. Film enthusiasts could enjoy revisiting Kashyap's early work, even if the majority of viewers would consider it an anachronism. As such, the film may not get much of a release today.

The fact that Paanch is Kashyap's debut makes it significant, even though the 2025 release doesn't seem all that essential. The theatrical endeavor appears to be less of an event and more of a ceremonial performance. watch out this space for more updates.
