Needle is shifting from waging war to negotiating...?

India's Foreign minister S. Jaishankar, while sharing his views on the Russia-Ukraine war at the Doha Forum, said that India's role is to resolve this war through talks and not to promote war. He said, "The needle is moving more towards the reality of talks than continuing the war." He made it clear that india has always been in favor of a peaceful solution and this policy makes it influential on the global stage.

Jaishankar said that India has talked to both sides while remaining neutral in this war. He said, "We have maintained dialogue with both russia and Ukraine. india has met President Putin in moscow and President Zelensky in Kiev and shared messages with each other in a transparent manner." According to him, India's aim is to find a common thread, which can be used in the future, so that the silence of war can be broken and there is no hindrance in the process of peace.

Protection of the interests of the Global South

Jaishankar further said that india is also bringing forward the interests of the global south affected by this conflict. He said, "Keeping in mind the sentiments of 125 other countries and their needs, india has ensured that their focus is on the problems created by this war, such as rising prices of fuel, food items, inflation and rising cost of fertilizers."

New direction in India's diplomatic role

This approach of india shows its leadership in global diplomacy and concrete steps towards partner solution. According to Jaishankar, india has tried to play the role of a mediator between all the parties to the conflict, which can open a new path towards peace and stability in the world.

With this approach, india has clarified its position and indicated that it will always move towards partnership and dialogue in resolving conflicts, and not towards military options. This approach of India also proves that it can play an active role in resolving conflictsgiving priority to the interests of the global south.
