Prominent cardiologist Dr. naresh Trehan offered crucial lifestyle advice for extending life. He emphasized the need to strike a balance between happiness, exercise, and diet for general well-being. While moderate alcohol use is OK, leading a contented, stress-free life is essential for heart health, according to Dr. Trehan, Chairman & Managing director of Medanta Hospital. In order to keep on track, he also emphasized the value of consistent exercise, suggesting four to five sessions each week and daily weight checks.
 
He emphasized the need to avoid what he refers to as the "four whites" in our diets: potatoes, sugar, white rice, and maida (refined flour). He advised eating these meals in moderation but made it clear that nothing is strictly prohibited.


He suggested, for instance, consuming no more than one spoonful of sugar per day. Consuming too much sugar might affect heart health and cause weight gain. Additionally, he noted that eating too much or the incorrect kind of potatoes might lead to weight gain. Due to their high glycemic index, potatoes raise the risk of heart disease and other illnesses by causing quick blood sugar increases.
 

Dr. Trehan also advised against using artificial sweeteners, stating that they are not a healthy substitute. He feels that eliminating sugar completely is preferable to depending on alternatives. "Tea, coffee, and everything else taste the same once you give up sugar," he stated, urging people to switch to healthier alternatives and stop purchasing sugar substitutes.
 
The secret to a healthy heart, according to Dr. Trehan, is moderation, balanced food, and consistent exercise.
