A Man from Visakhapatnam swallows teeth set in sleep..!?

A shocking incident took place in Visakhapatnam. The set of teeth that were there before going to bed at night was not visible when he woke up in the morning. Feeling worried, the man went straight to the doctor. The doctors immediately came to know about the matter and gave him an X-ray and a CT scan. Then they found out where the set of teeth was. Usually, doctors replace artificial teeth with dentures for those who have lost their teeth or have become weak. Special sets of teeth have also been made available for this. However, some sets of teeth are also given the flexibility to take them whenever we like. But in some cases, the set of teeth falls out without our intervention. A recent such incident took place in Visakhapatnam.

A 52-year-old employee from Visakhapatnam had his teeth fixed three years ago. Doctors fitted him with a permanent set of teeth. In this process, the set of teeth fell out while he was sleeping at night. However, he swallowed the set of teeth without noticing it in his sleep. When he woke up in the morning, he noticed that the set of teeth was missing. At that moment, he started coughing. Thinking that something had happened, he immediately contacted the doctors.
Dr. CH Bharat, Consultant Interventional Pulmonologist of kims Icon Hospital, examined him. Immediately after learning about the matter, an X-ray and a CT scan were done. With this, the doctors confirmed that the set of teeth that had fallen out had gone into the right lung. The set of teeth was swallowed and went straight into the lungs. The doctors found that the right lung was stuck in the middle. However, at the same time, the left lung was fully functioning, and the upper and lower parts of the right lung were also working, so there were no respiratory problems, but the foreign body inside caused a lot of coughing. Dr. Bharat said that he was immediately given general anesthesia and it was carefully removed with the help of a device called rigid bronchoscopy. He said that since there were metal objects on both sides of the set of teeth, they were careful not to cause any injury to the lungs or the respiratory tract. Fortunately, it was almost to the mouth, and there was a minor injury, he said. He said that a rigid bronchoscopy was used for this to remove large, curved, and soft objects.

Bharat further said on this subject, 'Usually, if an object is to be implanted anywhere in our body.. such things have a certain lifespan. After that, there is a possibility of them getting damaged a lot. Therefore, in such cases, it is necessary to consult the concerned doctors from time to time and take care of them. "Also, just because they are fitted once, you shouldn't assume they will stay that way for the rest of your life. Especially those who wear dentures should consult a dentist regularly and show them. If they are swallowed during sleep and remain in place for a long time, there is a risk of the flesh growing around them and even causing an infection," he said.
