Jail for begging..!? Rules coming into effect in "this" indian city!

 No matter where you go in our country, you can see people begging there. But here, begging has been banned in one of the major cities of our country. From next january, even if you beg in this city, you will be arrested and sent to jail. You can see people begging in most cities in India. The central and state governments are taking various steps to rescue and rehabilitate such beggars. As part of that, indore, the cleanest city in the country, has now decided to take serious steps to ensure that there are no beggars begging in their city. Accordingly, it has been announced that from january 1st, anyone who tries to give money to beggars will be booked. Accordingly, the district administration will take steps to monitor beggars and register FIRs against them.

Speaking to reporters in this regard, district Collector ashish Singh said, "We have already ordered a ban on begging in Indore. We are also conducting an awareness campaign against begging. We plan to conduct this campaign till the end of this month. We have now decided to take the next step in this matter. The central government has announced a scheme to rescue and rehabilitate beggars. As part of that scheme, the district administration is trying to make indore a beggar-free city. It is noteworthy that this scheme will be implemented in 10 cities in the first phase - Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, indore, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, patna and Ahmedabad.
 The indore district administration has been continuously running an awareness campaign against begging. In this regard, Dinesh Mishra, an officer of the scheme, said, "When we investigated this matter, we came to know some shocking information. Some beggars had very big houses. The families of many beggars are in a good condition. Some of their children are even working in banks. Once when I spoke to a beggar, he had Rs. 29,000 in his hand. Another beggar is earning money by giving money on interest. There are many such ways. Apart from this, some people from rajasthan had come here with their children to beg in Indore. We arrested them too while they were hiding in a hotel."
Madhya Pradesh Social Welfare minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha said that various parties are supporting the move to make indore a beggar-free city. He added, "An NGO from indore has expressed its support for this initiative of the government. The organization will provide free shelter for six months to the rescued beggars. The organization will also get them alternative jobs. We are taking various steps to make people stop begging."
