Another nefarious act of bangladesh, controversial map...?

Mahfuz Alam, working as an 'adviser' of the interim government of bangladesh, created a controversy by making a controversial statement against india on the occasion of Vijay Diwas of 16 december 1971. Vijay Diwas symbolizes the victory of the Bangladeshi army over the Pakistani army in the liberation war of Bangladesh. On the same day, Mahfuz posted an objectionable post against india on social media. In the post, Mahfuz Alam tried to incite cultural discontent in Northeast and Northern India. Along with this, released a controversial map, showing West Bengal, assam and Tripura as part of Bangladesh. After the controversy escalated, Mahfuz deleted his post.

Attempt to destabilize Northeast India

Mahfuz Alam claimed in his post that the culture of the people of Northeast india and Bangladesh is the same apart from religion. He also alleged that east Pakistan was created due to the attitude of the upper castes and 'Hindu fundamentalists' of India. In his post, Mahfuz pointed out the need to repeat the events of 1975 and 2024.

Reference to 1975 and 2024

In 1975, bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujibur rahman and his family members were assassinated. Mahfuz termed the alleged plan to remove Sheikh Hasina from power in 2024 as undemocratic. He said that there is a gap of 50 years between these events, but the circumstances have not changed. Mahfuz claimed that bangladesh needs a new system and geography.

Controversial map and threatening words

Mahfuz shared a controversial map on Facebook, showing India's West Bengal, Tripura and assam as part of Bangladesh. He said that bangladesh is still in its 'search for liberation' and this is just the beginning. However, just hours after sharing the dream of capturing india, he quietly deleted the post.

Mahfuz Alam's background and controversies

Mahfuz Alam is a hardline Islamist leader who served as a ministerial-level adviser in the interim government led by Mohammad Yunus. In the presence of former US President Bill Clinton, Yunus had described Mahfuz as the mastermind of a 'carefully designed' operation to remove Hasina from power.
