People of delhi will not be able to burst crackers for the whole year next year i.e. in 2025. Actually, bursting crackers in delhi has been banned for the whole year in 2025. Atishi government of aam aadmi party has issued an order regarding this. During the hearing on the pollution case, the delhi government informed the supreme court about this. According to the delhi government, now the sale, storage and use of crackers will be banned throughout the year in Delhi.
Earlier the order was applicable till january 1, 2025
Earlier, in view of the pollution, the delhi government had banned crackers till january 1, 2025. Now it has been banned for the whole next year. The supreme court bench of Justice AS Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih was informed that the fourth phase of the Phased Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been re-implemented in Delhi-NCR (National capital Region) due to deteriorating air quality. The bench said that the delhi government has imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, storage, sale and supply of firecrackers through online medium with immediate effect for the whole year.
Ban also imposed in UP-Haryana
The court said that we are of the view that this ban will be effective only when other states included in the NCR region will also implement similar measures. Even rajasthan has imposed a similar ban in that part of the state which falls within the NCR. For the time being, we direct Uttar Pradesh and haryana to impose a similar ban as delhi has implemented.
The supreme court had expressed concern
Expressing serious concern over the high level of air pollution in delhi during Diwali, the supreme court had said that its instructions regarding the ban on firecrackers were barely followed. The supreme court was requested to issue directions to curb air pollution in the national capital and surrounding areas.
