What is the fate of the One Nation, One election Bill? Parliamentary Joint Committee to meet on january 8!

The first meeting of the Parliamentary Committee to consider the One Nation, One election Bill of the ruling BJP-led national democratic alliance government at the Centre is scheduled to be held on january 8. The Parliamentary Joint Committee includes Congress Party's Priyanka Gandhi, DMK's P. Wilson, Selvaganapathy, and others.

Union Law minister Arjun Meghwal introduced the 'One Nation, One Election' Bill in the lok sabha to hold simultaneous elections for the lok sabha and all state assemblies. All opposition parties strongly opposed this bill from the outset. How can this bill be allowed when the bjp does not have a 2/3 majority in Parliament? DMK's TR Balu mp had questioned. All opposition MPs had also criticized the bill as being against the country's basic federalism.

At that time, Union home minister amit shah, speaking in the lok sabha, said that a detailed debate should be held on this bill; prime minister Modi said that he wanted the bill to be sent to a parliamentary joint committee. Following this, in an electronic vote, it was decided to send the One Nation, One election Bill for consideration by the Parliamentary Joint Committee. The fact that 20 bjp MPs did not participate in that vote caused a great controversy.

Following this, a parliamentary joint committee was formed to study the One Nation, One election Bill. This joint committee included 39 members including Congress mp priyanka Gandhi, DMK's Wilson, and Selvaganapathy. The committee has been formed under the chairmanship of bjp mp Chowdhury.

In this context, it has been announced that the first meeting of the Parliamentary Joint Committee to study the One Nation, One election Bill will be held on january 8.
