December 24, New Delhi: Prominent spiritual leader Swami Ramabhadracharya responded to a recent statement made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat about temple-mosque disputes by stating that Bhagwat's opinions were his own and not indicative of hinduism, adding, "he leads the Sangh not Hinduism."
Bhagwat has previously said, "Certain individuals raise issues around temples and mosques to position themselves as leaders of Hindus, especially concerning the ram Mandir." In response, Ramabhadracharya said, "We have nothing to do with this; it may be his own opinion. Despite being the head of the Sangh, he does not speak for Hinduism. The discipline and veracity of the faith continue to be our key concerns. We will endeavour to restore historic Hindu temples wherever they have been confirmed to exist. This concept is not new; rather, it is a component of the preservation of our culture and religion.
In his remarks, he also referred to the recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, as unfortunate and emphasised the importance of Hindu unity. He asked prime minister Narendra Modi to take a more assertive stand against the persecution of Hindu minorities in bangladesh and called on the indian government to implement more stringent measures. "The maha Kumbh mela signifies our rich culture and promotes spiritual values," Ramabhadracharya stated, expressing satisfaction over the approaching Kumbh mela in Prayagraj.
