Asim ahmed khan and Colonel Devender Sehrawat, two former AAP MLAs, joined the delhi Congress on Monday.
In the 2015 assembly elections, Colonel Sehrawat became victorious from Bijwasan, whereas Khan had been a cabinet minister in the AAP government.
After defeating five-term incumbent mla Shoaib Iqbal to win the Matia Mahal seat in 2015, Khan led a number of ministries, including minority issues, environment and forest, and food and civil supply. arvind kejriwal, the chief minister of delhi at the time, kicked him out of the party's primary membership in october 2015 due to allegations of corruption.In the 2025 elections, Khan, who was the chairman of the Hajj Committee before, is anticipated to receive a ticket from the Congress.
Meanwhile, in the 2015 elections, Colonel Sehrawat was chosen to represent Bijwasan as an AAP MLA. However, he was expelled from the party after accusing four senior party leaders in a letter to kejriwal in 2016. After joining the bjp in 2019, he was named the Shiv Sena's delhi chief in 2023.
In the 2015 elections, Colonel Sehrawat defeated the Bijwasan bjp candidate by about 19,500 votes. The 2020 assembly polls were not challenged by him.This time, the AAP is running Bijwasan native Surender Bharadwaj, a former member of the Samajwadi Party.
