The Municipal Commissioner of chandigarh suspended an executive engineer for unlawfully authorising a business to erect temporary mobile towers for the performance of singer Diljit Dosanjh. Additionally, the executive engineer was told not to leave the office without the commissioner's approval.

On december 14, more than 50,000 people flocked to chandigarh to see diljit dosanjh perform live.Ajay Garg, Executive engineer, Roads, Division No. 3, MC, chandigarh, allegedly gave M/s Bharti airtel Limited, Plot No. 21, rajiv gandhi technology Park, chandigarh, permission on december 13 to temporarily install three mobile tower cells on wheels to cover the network on december 14 at Exhibition Ground in Sector 34, Chandigarh. This was discovered by Municipal Commissioner amit Kumar, who was charged Rs 20,000 + GST on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh."Ajay Garg, Executive engineer, Roads, Division No. 3, MC, chandigarh, has granted the said permission without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority and without following the proper procedure required for granting such permissions," the commissioner's suspension order stated. Although the aforementioned officer was served with a show-cause notice by this office on december 14 and instructed to respond to it within three days, the officer in question has not responded to this notice."It was further stated, "Now, therefore, the undersigned being the Appointing Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of Rule 10 of the Central Civil services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules 1965 hereby place ajay Garg, Executive engineer, Roads, Division No. 3, MC, chandigarh under suspension with immediate effect."
