Officials stated on monday that 42,433 persons would be eligible for the compensation, which comes days after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath raised the amount to be paid to farmers for land acquisition to build the third phase of Jewar airport from Rs 3,100 per sq m to Rs 4,300 per sq m.
"The purchase process will go more smoothly and on schedule with the updated compensation rate. A list of impacted farms will be compiled shortly, and we have already started the process of preparing to perform a social impact assessment. According to Arun Veer Singh, CEO of the upcoming noida international airport in Jewar, which is scheduled to open in april 2025, this will incentivise farmers to relinquish their land for the project."The aerospace industry will benefit from the allocation of approximately 300 hectares of the land acquired in the third phase to international aerospace manufacturers, which will draw four to five of the top aircraft manufacturing companies in the world," he continued.
In 14 villages—Neemka shahjahanpur, Khwajapur, Parohi, Kishorepur, Banwaribans, Jewar Bangar, Muqimpur Shivara, Sabauta, Ahmedpur Chauroli, Dayanatpur, Rohi, Bankapur, Thora, and Ramner—the authority intends to purchase 2,053 hectares of land for the airport's third phase. The majority of these land plots—639 hectares—will be purchased in Thora, followed by Neemka shahjahanpur (307 hectares), Khwajapur (292 hectares), and Ramner (235 hectares).
Preliminary estimates indicate that 42,433 people in these 14 villages—including 10,847 children under the age of 18—will be impacted by the land acquisition, including 16,343 males and 15,243 women.
9,361 families are anticipated to be relocated as a result of the land acquisition in just six villages. It is anticipated that Thora and Ramner, which together comprise about 17,000 farms, will have the greatest number of impacted farmers.
While 1,334 hectares were purchased for the first phase of noida international airport, 1,365 hectares were purchased for the second phase, which includes land for an aviation hub and a facility for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
In response, the CEO stated that a plan for land parcels for the aviation and MRO sectors would be introduced shortly.
