New Delhi: On Wednesday, delhi airport officials released a warning for travelers, indicating that flights that do not meet CAT III standards might face possible interruptions due to low visibility conditions. In a message posted on the social media platform X, the officials remarked, "While flights are still taking off and landing at delhi airport, those not CAT III compliant may be impacted." The authorities also encouraged passengers to reach out to their respective airlines for the latest flight updates. "We kindly ask passengers to get in touch with the airlines for current flight information. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused," the message continued. CAT III, or Category III, refers to an approach system that permits safe landing of flights in low visibility situations and ensures operational efficiency for compliant aircraft. Visibility in the city was noted to be at 100 meters early in the morning due to heavy fog at 5:30 am. Additionally, indigo airlines issued a notice for travelers departing from delhi, mentioning that low visibility and fog conditions could affect flight schedules. "#6ETravelAdvisory: A layer of fog blankets Delhi's chilly winter morning, potentially impacting flight schedules. If you or someone you know is flying, we advise checking the flight status prior to heading to the airport. Travel safely," the message stated. The airline suggested that passengers monitor their flight status closely and allocate extra time for their journey to the airport to facilitate smooth travel. "We recommend staying updated on your flight status and planning your route to the airport with additional time for a seamless travel experience," the message indicated. This advisory follows the national capital's experience of moderate rainfall and a significant cold wave, which has made the winter chill even more intense. On december 19, officials had also provided a warning, advising passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information before traveling. "Low visibility protocols are still in effect at delhi Airport. However, there has been no disruption to flight operations. Passengers are asked to reach out to their respective airlines for updated flight details," a post stated.
