New delhi [India], december 26: The indian army along with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) has expressed their sorrow over the unexpected passing of Brigadier General amitabh Jha, who passed away due to health issues on december 23. At the time of his death, Brigadier General Jha held the position of Deputy Force commander for UNDOF. Condolences were expressed by General upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the army Staff, along with all members of the indian Army. He recently took on the role of Acting Force commander of UNDOF under challenging circumstances following the collapse of the Assad government in Syria." The announcement emphasized that Brigadier General Jha was instrumental in backing the Mission's objective to uphold the ceasefire between israel and syria and served with utmost dedication and professionalism in persistently challenging situations. He was a respected leader whose contributions to United Nations peacekeeping will be cherished, including his time with the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) from 2005 to 2006.
