Anna university student rape case! chennai High Court to hear today at 2.15 pm.
The madras high court, which took the case of anna university student rape for hearing on its initiative, has ordered the tamil Nadu government and the police to explain the incident.
The incident of anna university students being sexually assaulted has created a stir across tamil Nadu.
In this situation, female lawyer Varalakshmi sent a letter to the madras high court today, saying that there are shortcomings in the police investigation into this incident and that the case should be transferred to the cbi investigation since the police have released the first information report of the case despite the fact that the identity of the victim should not be disclosed as per the law.
In the letter, the police stated that they had arrested one person involved in the case, but it was reported that the victim's statement also mentioned another person. In this situation, in the session comprising Justices S.M. Subramaniam and V. lakshmi Narayanan, Advocate Jayaprakash, appearing for Advocate Varalakshmi, requested that the case be taken up for investigation based on the letter and the investigation be transferred to the CBI.
Similarly, another Advocate Krishnamoorthy said that the entire family of the victim has been affected due to the police issuing the First Information Report. He appealed that the case should be taken up for investigation on its own as the safety of students studying in hostels of not only anna university but also all educational institutions has become questionable.
After examining the appeal of the two advocates and the letter of the women advocates, the judges said that since serious allegations have been made about the police investigation, the court will take up the case on its own based on the letter of the woman advocate Varalakshmi. Further, they ordered the tamil Nadu home Secretary, DGP, chennai City police Commissioner, Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of anna university, and Inspector of Kotturpuram All-Women police station to be included as respondents in this case.
Further, the judges said that no order could be issued without obtaining an explanation from the tamil Nadu government and the police, and ordered the tamil Nadu government and police to obtain and submit an explanation in this regard at 2:15 pm and adjourned the hearing for the afternoon.
